Querétaro is, without a doubt, a fascinating state. It is an amalgamation of centuries of history, art, culture, and extraordinary natural beauty. Querétaro is the only state in Mexico, alongside Mexico City, to possess four UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Historic Downtown of Santiago de Querétaro, the five Franciscan Missions of the Sierra Gorda, the homes of the Otomí-Chichimecas of Tolimán, and the Camino Tierra Adentro. The Querétaro Sierra is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, due to its biodiversity and its distinct ecosystems living in such a small zone. Extreme sports are great fun in this state, from riding ATVs through its trails, to bicycling through the southern prairies.

Relax in one of its many campgrounds, or in one of its charming towns, like Tequisquiapan y Peña de Bernal, surrounded by vineyards and cheese shops where you can enjoy some truly great produce. A plus in Querétaro is that you can visit any time of year! Its excellent climate will make your stay a comfortable one; its activities will make it an unforgettable one. Hike through its valleys, where the weather is constantly nice and warm (the temperature stays around 16º-22º C, or 61º-71º F). Or you can do horseback riding through the prairies, where the weather is cooler. We recommend bundling up! You can also visit the semi-deserts of Cadereyta, Tolimán, and Peñamiller, which stand in contrast with the pine and oak forests in San Joaquín Pinal de Amoles, also worth visiting. Adding to the climactic variety of the state, you can also visit the tropical rainforests of alpan, Landa, and Arroyo Seco, where you can hike and experience the wildlife almost as if you were in a movie.
