The dense wilderness that thrives within the surrounding areas hides a Magic Town that belongs to the municipality of Salvador Escalante. With the sunrise, the main plaza wakes up with a peach-colored brightness that amazes all tourists and visitors, as they observe the expelled halo softly touching the Kiosk’s rooftop, embellishing the Santa Clara del Cobre town. Copper was one of the natural treasures that helped the town blossom during its mining era. Today, the metal is acquired by melting cables, electronic circuits and plumbing pipes at a high temperature, only to be molded by several synchronized workers with hammers that sculpt the fiery metal above an anvil; this technique is known as the Hammered Copper, which made the town gain international fame and recognition regarding its artisanal crafts. The town won the Science and Arts National Prize on the category of Traditions and Popular Arts in 1984.
