Puerto Vallarta is a fantastic destination with a great amount of things to do. Its nice weather and nature invite us to enjoy the beaches and get all fuelled up and competitive on the water sports front, or simply relax and get a nice tan, when you are done with that take a stroll on the pier and –just maybe- surprise your significant other by planning a wonderful beach wedding!
This is also the perfect spot to go deep sea fishing, turtle and whale watching (the latter from November to March), so prepare your camera because you may get so inspired that the photos you will shoot may even win you some contest!
Shake up the explorer in you! Rent a boat and surf the waves to discover some of the neighbouring seashores like Yelapa or Sayulita –just 25 minutes away- we bet you will have a blast! Or, you could raise a bit your audacious level and hire an adventure tour to dive into the depths of the sea, kayak, or paddle; now, if you want to be on firm soil let the adrenaline rush on a buggy car, or see how far you can go on a hike; and if neither full water nor land is your cup of tea, then soar the winds –kind of- on a zip line. This will probably take you all day so, may we suggest you head to your hotel, take a good shower, a massage, and then get all pretty to enjoy the best of the Vallarta nightlife!
Every year, thousands of visitors from all over the world come to this fun and fabulous destination; no wonder the late John Huston (American film director, screenwriter, and actor) fell head over hills with its natural scenery and, in 1964, used Mismaloya Beach as the location to shoot his famous movie “The Night Of The Iguana”; or more recently “Limitless” directed by Neil Burger with Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper.
Get into the bohemian vibe of the Historical Downtown and visit the art galleries, see the sculptures, churches, and monuments; then go to Pueblo Viejo – the handicrafts market- and get yourself a little something. Find a table at one of the local restaurants and enjoy a shrimp ceviche, some lobster tacos, or whatever strikes your whim.
Infinito México recommends Start your tour on Isla Rio Cuale, the beautiful merger between the New and the Old Vallarta, filled with over 20 art pieces and sculptures of renowned artists like “The Seahorse” by Rafael Samaripa, and the fantastic “La Rotonda del Mar” by Alejandro Colunga.
Enjoy the wonderful beaches Boca Holi on the northern side of the hotel strip; Playa Camarones in the middle, and Playa Conchas Chinas down south. In November experience the International Fishing Tournament, Marlin & Sailfish in the Banderas Bay, where you can catch marlin, snapper, yellowfin tuna, roosterfish and dorado (mahi-mahi). Take a boat ride to the Marine Park Los Arcos, a formation of granite islands protruding from the sea. Take a peek at the Mismaloya Beach where the jungle and the sea become one in a unique and exuberant natural scenery.
Enhance your trip adding these nearby destinations: Marietas Islands (8 km away, they are a good place to dive, snorkel, kayak, and watch –perhaps even play with- dolphins); Punta Mita (47. 5 km from Vallarta, it is a famous area for diving and surfing); Sayulita (at a distance of 44. 9 km, it is worth every centimeter you travel for you can surf, dive, horseback ride, take a long romantic walk on the beach or savor a great meal); Yelapa (travel 90. 2 km to enjoy a unique setting where one can go deep sea fishing and practice other water sports, or simply relax and have a drink by the beach).
